New Jersey's schools are among the best in the nation with many options for private schools including some of the county's top preparatory schools. Beyond high school, New Jersey houses 20 public and private four-year colleges, 21 public two-year colleges, 2 engineering schools, 1 medical college, 2 dental colleges and 6 theological colleges. Among these numbers are the prestigious Princeton and Rutgers Universities, the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Stevens Institute of Technology.
